An exercise physiologist is an allied health professional that uses exercise to work with individuals experiencing chronic and complex medical conditions. Conditions our Exercise Physiologists can treat:
  • Metabolic conditions such as Childhood Obesity, Diabetes, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidaemia
  • Mental Health conditions such as anxiety and depression
  • Neurological and developmental conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Muscular Dystrophy
  • Cardiovascular conditions, such as congenital heart defects
  • Childhood Arthritis and Osteoporosis
  • Post-surgical Rehabilitation

  • Gross motor delays in child and youth, including:

  • Treating childhood obesity and diabetes through fun and engaging modalities of movement. 
  • Creating a positive relationship with exercise to support involvement in community sports, maintaining a healthy habit across the child’s lifespan and increase confidence. 
  • Liaising with schools and teachers to implement appropriate adjustments for physical activity in the classroom, or playground, for neurodivergent children and those living with a physical limitation for engagement in the required tasks. 
  • How to implement structured physical activity in a child’s day to achieve greater increases in productivity with non-preferred activities, such as school work.
  • Utilising assistive technology, such as walkers, standers, to promote engagement in physical activity.
